Flash Text Animations v01
The following 11 text animations in swf (Flash) format were part of the "Sunshield" Kiosk prototype project mentioned elsewhere on this blog. They were part of a rapid react series of text animation tests for possible use in that prototype. The tests were for basic motion and concept, not color, size, font type, other visual aspects, etc. Important to my design philosophy is that I did not use Flash to create them, but instead, used a small sub-$100 software package that could do the job in minutes, whereas using Flash would have taken hours.
It is important to know how to select the right tool for the right task. Too many people think that "Flash" or "Dreamweaver" or "Photoshop" are the best applications to use in their particular "genre" (one can see this readily in classified ads). However, there are often freeware, shareware, and "cheaper" applications that can do a subset of what the "big guys" do faster and more efficiently. If I'd used Flash to do these animation tests, it would have taken significantly more time, and cost my client considerably. Instead, when we decided upon the animations we liked, I could then "finetune" them using Flash.
