One of the more confounding issues in my career has been to figure out an efficient and optimal method of showing or presenting my work. Ideally, too, there'd be descriptions to explain why a particular approach or software application was used, or what the constraints were ("you have 24 hours to deliver it to the White House.."). This blog is my "test" solution...
There's also the recurring problem of being too busy to put the "loving care" I'd want to do in designing a "Flash-fancy" website, or state-of-the-art website portfolio. Never seem to find the time to do my own website at a level I'm capable of... I think this blog might be an efficient (and fun) solution.
In recent weeks, I've started to research the blogging process. In the activity of exploring TypePad and it's capabilities (and with this entry, the very intriguing "ECTO" application for managing blogs off-line), I came up with the idea of using ta blog as a means to periodically post samples and descriptions of my work. Multiple categorizing of work samples is straight-forward, elements of the layout can be modified with a click of a button, in short, there's an extremely useful subset of things I can do in minutes with my "blogsite" that would take significantly longer (and be more laborious) using, say, Dreamweaver.
There are some clear limitations to using TypePad for this blog and I don't have total control of all aspects of the layout and supporting code (one irritating example: only 12 "photo" thumbnails on the main page... this has slowed me down having to go back and re-evaluate/design what images are in the "top 12" posts). However, I'm still comfortable that time is being saved and although the mechanism doesn't show the extent of what my skill-sets can do, it is more than sufficient to be an effective means of showing and explaining some of my work.
Note: the dates of posts are fictious to some degree to enable proper visual ordering. I plan to add more posts periodically, and would hope to have at least 20 or so as representative. A lot of the interactive animation work (in Flash, SuperCard, Director, whatever) my be format problematic.
As always, "time will tell" and I welcome any and all feedback.

Australia as a nation, as a set of cities and some regional centres, that project died a death and we didn't get it up, but I still think there's merit in that.

Let me put it this way: I think Republicans tend to keep the ball in play, Democrats go for broke.
